Designing the Nursery of My Dreams

You guys…we finally closed on the new house last week! YAY!!! It was such a surreal moment because Steve and I have been working on this project for the past 2.5 years, so being able to close felt like such a big weight off our shoulders. Unfortunately, there are still a few small things that the builder needs to get done, so we won’t be moving in until mid March...but that isn’t stopping me from moving forward with prepping for baby’s arrival. The nursery is the first space I would like done so that it is 100% ready when we move in! Even if nothing else in the house is decorated yet lol. I have envisioned my nursery this entire pregnancy and have been searching for the perfect color palette, furniture, and overall design inspo.

My mom is an amazing DIYer and she will be putting her skills to work on the nursery this week. Today I want to give you a little sneak peek at the space and what the plan is for the overall design!! Let’s get into it!

This room is the closest room to mine and Steve’s bedroom, so it was the perfect place for a nursery. It’s crazy because when we first started building I had no intention of having a baby and I thought that this room would be my office. Fast forward a couple of years and things have changed…a lot. Now the dream of an adorable nursery is becoming a reality! I LOVE the natural light that pours into this room (but it’s also going to need some powerful blinds for naptime, lol). Right now it is a blank canvas with white walls and no color. We don’t even have carpet yet. When we began talking about the nursery design I thought I wanted everything a deep sage green, but then I found a wallpaper that is SO precious (I will show you a sneak peek in the design section of this blog), so I bought it immediately and it has become the inspiration for the room and everything I thought I wanted has changed.

I bought the furniture and crib set first, and then we tied the wallpaper into those choices to make everything cohesive. My nursery mood board is found below!

The Design PlaN:

The plan? I wanted a neutral color like a soft taupe. Since this will be the nursery for all my babies I wanted to be sure that it will be classic and timeless. It was hard to choose the perfect color but I think we made a great choice! My mom will be painting the walls and installing picture frame moulding to frame the most precious bunny wallpaper (see below). Additional design pieces that will be added include: additional moulding detail, a beautiful heirloom crib handed down from my parents (I promise the picture doesn’t do it justice!), a dresser that will be used as a changing table for now with the cutest changing basket on top, vintage finds and more! And wait until you see what she does with the chandelier!

I am so excited for this room to come together and to be able to bring baby boy home to enjoy it soon. Be sure to sign up for my newsletter below so you don’t miss the big reveal when this space is complete! You can also catch up with all of my mom’s projects over on her blog. I can’t wait to show you guys this space in just a few weeks!! Until next time!
