Splurge vs. Save
Since the new house took so long to be built, I had plenty of time to search all over for the perfect decor and quickly realized that styling a home can be really expensive! Knowing that we were having a baby and also knowing that we have two dogs who like to jump all over the furniture makes it really hard for me to want to spend a ton of money on furniture. So, as I started working on finding the perfect decor and furniture, I wanted to find things that I loved and was also willing to find other items that looked like the splurge but saved a lot of money. Throughout the process, I found that if there is an expensive item that I really loved, but didn’t want to spend the money on it, I could almost always find a dupe of it through Google!
Today I am going to be sharing the big pieces from our main living space with all of you. It’s the room that is seen by everyone when they first walk into my home, and we spend most of our time here, so I wanted it to feel cozy and put together. Some of the things I went ahead and splurged on to get what I wanted, but other things I chose were a version of what I wanted for a fraction of what I would have spent. Let’s get into it!
Something I have a hard time spending a ton of money on is couches. The dogs will forever wreck them and now that we have Dallas, that adds a whole other layer of “the couch is definitely gonna get messed up” lol. The sofas I really wanted were from RH, but I couldn’t find myself to pull the trigger. I shopped around and found one that was very similar in style that cost less than half of the RH ones. I was able to get two sofas for less than just the one! I also love a good bouclé chair and the one linked below is a great option for saving!
The way we have the living room set up with the square coffee table offered the perfect place to add two woven benches in front of the fireplace to complete the space and offer more seating for guests (or Zoey lol).
My Tip: You can mix and match more expensive items with less expensive items to help stay on budget and still have an elevated look. Shopping Home Goods and Target for accessories like decorative books, art, bowls, pillows, throw blankets, and lamps can also help stay on budget.
My Tip: You can buy an inexpensive lamp you love and change out the lamp shade for a more expensive or larger one for a bigger impact!
It has been so much fun decorating our home and I absolutely love the way this space turned out! If you guys end up liking this blog I will do a couple more with other rooms in our house! Thank you for being here and I can’t wait to share more!
Until next time,
